Boomer
Boomer was named Sammie when he was pulled from the shelter on February 8, 2005. He was a year old Black Lab that was still full of energy. He was brought to Michigan Purebred Rescue in the Detroit area where, after a quick bath and some food, was adopted by a great family in Rochester Hills, MI.
Dozer
Dozer was pulled the same day as Boomer was but was fostered by the SE Michigan Labrador Rescue. Dozer is a 2 1/2 year old dark yellow lab. After going through a round of Kennel Cough and an ear infection, Dozer was adopted by a single gentleman in Warren, MI.

Bentley
Bentley was pulled from the shelter the night before being put down as well. He's a 3 year old black lab that is a big lover. Bentley had all of the structure to be a show dog, but his owner thought it would be better to chain him to a tree outside of his house. Bentley decided he didn't like that and broke free. After that, his owners brought him to the shelter.

Bentley was vet checked where it was discovered he had scar tissue inside of his right ear from a hematoma that was likely caused by an ear infection. Bentley's new family is from Stanwood, MI and he has the love of a yellow lab sister.

This was Mudge in the shelter

Mudge's first day of freedom after a bath

Meeting her forever family
Sleeping in her new home

Mudge
Mudge was listed as a 1 year old black male by the shelter. It turned out that Mudge was a she! When I met Mudge, she was afraid of the shelter workers, was really defeated and was a low walker. I took her out of her kennel to temperment test her and it was like she was begging me to bring her home. I promised her that day that I would be back to get her. I didn't break that promise.

On March 10, 2005, I brought her home for a well deserved bath and then brought her to meet her foster family. After having a few accidents in her foster family's home, she settled in. She got all of her shots and then spayed. A few days later, she was being transported across 6 states by perfect strangers to get her to her forever home in Greeley, Colorado.

Read about her transport across the country here.

Neo
New was spring from the shelter on March 11, 2005. He was days away from being PTS. Again, he was suffering from the Black Dog Syndrome. Neo is a 9 month old black lab male that is an utter sweetheart. He was brought in as a stray.

Initially, Neo was supposed to be on the transport train that took Mudge to her forever home; unfortunately, he caught a slight case of Kennel Cough and his trip has been delayed by a week. No worries though! He now ha a clean bill of health!

Neo was flown to his new forever home in Minneapolis, MN on March 25th, 2005 where he has a great family and a labby brother named Cosmo!

Onyx
Onyx is an 8 month old purebred black Labrador Retriever that was pulled from the Isabella County Animal Shelter on February 16, 2005. She was bought from a backyard breeder/puppymill in St. Louis, MI who allowed her to go home with an 80 year old single woman.

Onyx grew to be bigger than this woman expected and after spaying her she returned her to the breeder who decided to send her to the shelter for being "high maintenance." Onyx has been in foster care ever since. She was on meds for Kennel Cough and Coccidia. She is up to date on shots.

She is crate trained and house broken. She has been learning basic obedience but still needs help on walking nicely on a leash. She is great with other dogs, and kids. She loves just about everyone she meets.

She is now with her forever family in Madison, WI and has a great labby sister to keep her company!

Rocky
Rocky was rescued on March 10, 2005 after asking for an extention from the Animal Control Officer in charge of euthanizing. Rocky is an 8 month old Lab/Boxer mix, but he is mostly Lab! He's adorable, full of energy, great with other dogs and children.

He went to live with a great foster family in Midland, MI where his foster mom taught him manners and some basic obedience.

Rocky has been adopted by a wonderful couple in Whitemore Lake, MI. Rocky has a great backyard and a lake to play in! Have a great life buddy!

Hershey
Hershey is a 9 month purebred chocolate Labrador Retriever that was surrendered to CMLRN on April 19, 2005 by her owner. Hershey has never been separated from her brother Hunter. They were born in Indiana and kept in a shed. Hershey and Hunter are littermates.

They traveled to Michigan where their owner gave them up. Hershey has never seen a vet. They were planning on keeping Hershey to breed.

Her foster family fell in love with Hershey. They loved her so much that they adopted her. She is now well loved with her new sisters Ava, Sylke, and Betsy in Midland, MI. Hershey is now named Trinka and will be loved forever.

Dusty
Dusty is a 11 month old male purebred yellow Labrador Retriever that was pulled from the Isabella County Animal Shelter on 4/9/05.

He was a stray. Dusty is underweight right now and needs to regain about 15 lbs. He is doing wonderfully right now.

Very sweet temperment, very playful and gets along great with my dogs. Once this guy is healthy he will be a great pet as he is eager to please and love!

Dusty was adopted by a wonderful couple in Kingsley, MI. He has a huge yard, and his own private lake to swim in! Dusty's parents are in love with him and will be training him to do pet therapy work! Dusty has been renamed Ben and has been learning to water retrieve!

Mara
Mara is a purebred 5 month old Black Labrador Retriever pup that was in a home with a single guy who just recently went back to school full time on top of working full time. Needless to say, Mara has spent a lot of time in her crate.

Mara has found a great home with a young couple in Midland, MI. She was just recently spayed and is enjoying time with her new parents.

Mac
Mac is a Chocolate Lab/Chesapeake Bay Retriever Mix that was dumped into the yard of a very big dog lover in Kentucky. He is about 3 years old.

It seems that his owner didn't really think to highly of him as he had a chain collar embedded into his neck.

Mac has been adopted to a very nice gentleman in Ann Arbor, MI. He will be loved and well taken care of there. Have a great time Mac!

Abby
Meet Abby. She's 4.5 months old and was an owner surrender. She is a purebred registered Labrador Retriever. She is microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations.

Abby was adopted by a great family in Farmington Hills, MI. She has an older brother named Moose, chocolate lab.

Have fun Abby!

Cassi
Cassi is a purebred registered Labrador Retriever. She is stunning. She is 2.5 years old and a sweet girl.

Cassi was adopted by a great family in Gross Pointe Woods, MI.

Welcome home Cassi!

Zeke
Zeke is 9 months old that was taken out an abusive situation. The previous owner's ex-boyfriend lost his temper with Zeke, picked him up and threw him. It caused the tendons in his right rear knee to tear. He couldn't walk on it at all.

Zeke is now happy and on his way to Gaylord, MI to his new forever home with an older brother named Max!

Sammy
Sammy is a young labrador shepard mix (we are estimating him to be around 2 to 3 years old) that is absolutely gentle, trusting and loving. He does like to play and wrestle with other dogs, but is always willing to put his head on your shoulder and be held in a hug.

Sammy has been adopted by a GREAT family in Troy, MI. Have a great life Sammy!

Dixie
Dixie is a 1 year old dark chocolate female purebred Labrador Retriever. She was taken to the Isabella County Animal Control because she had developed "cherry eye" and they could not afford the surgery.

Dixie is a delightful young dog that is eager to please. She is working on basic obedience but is house broken, crate trained and can be pretty trustworthy out of her kennel. She is a big snuggler so watch out! She may just steal your heart!

Dixie has been adopted by a wonderful woman in Pine Lake, MI. Dixie, now Hannah, lives right on the lake and is enjoying life!

Sampson
Sampson was found at about 8 weeks and he is now estimated to be ~15 months old. He was brought into the fire dept when they saw him almost getting hit trying to cross the road.

Sampson has been adopted by a wonderful family in Traverse City, MI and has a labbie sister to play with!

Sassy
This beautiful girl was left at the Midland, MI Animal Shelter. This is a shelter that still uses gas to euthanize and sells animals to research. We got her out JUST IN TIME! She is currenly being fostered in Midland and is definitely a sweet girl - licking hands and running to her foster mommy without being called.

She should not be in a home with cats, she likes to chase them and could potentially harm them. She does fine with other dogs and rides well in cars. She has a beautiful star on her chest.

Sassy has found her forever home in Vestaburg, MI where she will be loved for the rest of her days!

Dawson
Meet Dawson! Dawson is a young chocolate labrador (around 1.5 to 2 years old).

Dawson is great around other dogs. Dawson likes to be around people and would be best fit with a family that is home most of the time. Dawson loves people and will follow you around and is looking for the love and attention that he never recieved but so much deserves.

Dawson, now Boston, was adopted by his foster family who adore and love him. He now resides in Toledo, OH. Have a great life Boston!

Rocky
Rocky was brought in as part of a cruelty case with 5 other adults and 7 puppies. All of the dogs were severely neglected and starved. Dogs are purebred labrador retrievers and parents are AKC registered. Rocky is registered; however, there is no paperwork available at this time.

Rocky is a big boy. He was raised in the house before he was put out in the dog pen to mate with the female dogs. It is believed that he has sired two litters at this point. Rocky is only a year old and is a big lover boyl. He is extremely affectionate and strong.

Lab Pups
These 7 lab puppies were brought in with their momma and 5 other adult labs as part of a neglect case. All of the dogs were severely neglected and starved. Dogs are purebred labrador retrievers and parents are AKC registered. This litter is not registerable and no paperwork is available.

The original yellow litter was 11 strong; however, the deplorable conditions and poor nutrition that the mother was in resulted in 7 of the 11 dying. There were also 3 remaining chocolate pups from a couple day old older litter that were "adopted" by the nursing mother of the yellow litter.

These guys are going home October 1, 2005 they are going to Ann Arbor, MI, Almont, MI, Huntington Woods, MI, Hopkins, MI, Wyoming, MI, Grand Blanc, MI, and Royal Oak, MI. We look forward to seeing pictures of these pups as they get older!

Bobby
Bobby is a 1.5 y/o purebred black neutered male 65 pounds. He was originally adopted from MHS 3/05 had been found as a stray no papers. He is submissive around dominant dogs and gets along great with other dogs and cats. VERY gentle wih children but too energetic to be aroung small children.

Bobby has found his forever home in Livonia, MI. Have a great life Bobby!

Abby
Abby is approximately 9mos old and is a yellow lab/shepard mix.

Her current foster parents found her approximately 2 weeks ago when she wandered onto their property. She has a great temperament. She is a very loving dog who wants someone to love her back. She loves to play, but also loves to sleep when she can, making her a great dog for anyone who can love such an adorable dog.

She is current on vaccinations and on preventative, as well as frontline for fleas. She already has a great deal of skills including the understanding of sit and shake. She also appears to be house trained as she has not had 1 accident in the house since her arrival (nor in the kennel). She will whine or bark if she has to go outside to let you know.

Abby has found her new forever home in Greenville, MI. She will have a wonderful life there! Have fun Abby!
Ginger
Meet Ginger. She is the mother of the 7 lab puppies that were up for adoption. She was also part of the cruelty case and seizure that brought 5 adults and 7 pups into our care.

This beautiful girl is about 3 to 4 years old and is a dark yellow/red color. Many people call this color "fox red". She is a loving dog that has been through a lot. She is a wonderful mother and doing a great job raising her puppies. We are in the intial process of weening the puppies at this time. She will no longer be feeding them in about 2 weeks, which is also when she will be ready to go to a new forever home.

Ginger is now in her forever home in Tecumseh, MI. She has an older labby sister to romp and play with!

Molly
Molly is a female chocolate lab that was also part of the cruelty case that brought us Ginger, Rocky, Savannah and all of the Lab Puppies.

She is about 4-5 years old and been successfully treated for heartworm. Thanks to the generosity of a few private individuals from the MPMKC and Mt. Pleasant area, we have been able to afford Molly's treatment for heartworm. Also, AHA has helped greatly in the care and treatment of Molly.

This girl is so sweet and loving. She wants to be by you at all times. She was so thin when she came in and now she weighs around 65lbs and her coat is 110% better!

Molly is now in her forever home in Gregory, MI! She has a labby sister to play with! Have a great life Molly!

Lacy
Lacy is a wonderful little female black Labrador Retriever. She was saved from euthanization on Thursday, October 14, 2005 from the ICAC.

One of the kids that works with me at CMU got involved with asking for us to help out this great little girl. Somehow, we were able to find a foster for her and she's been spared.

Lacy has found her new home in Brighton, MI where she will be loved forever. Have a great time Lacy!

Savannah Puppies
The momma of this litter was brought in with 5 other adult labs and the other litter of 7 as part of a neglect case. All of the dogs were severely neglected and starved. Dogs are purebred labrador retrievers and parents are AKC registered. This litter is not registerable and no paperwork is available.

We did not know that Savannah was pregnant when she came into the rescue. So we were surprised to find out that she was. The father of this litter is in foster care through SE Michigan Lab Rescue.

These pups were born early on 9/22/05. There are 4 females and 1 male.

These pups are now 8 weeks old and have been adopted to great families in Washington, MI, Waterford, MI, Armada, MI, Gladwin, MI and Bryan, OH. We will post pictures of them as they grow.

Have great lives babies!

Hunter
Hunter is an owner surrender. He's 15 months old and has never been seperated from his sister Hershey. They were born in Indiana and kept in a shed. They traveled to Michigan where their owner gave up Hunter for lack of room at the house. Hunter had never seen a vet until he came to us.

Hunter had been adopted through our rescue in April. Unfortunately, he was returned to us because he "doesn't listen." Well folks, Hunter was 9 months old when he was adopted out and now is only 14 months old...still VERY much a puppy and not 100% on recall or listening. He needs a home that will provide him with the love and affection he deserves, the exercise he needs and the training he desires.

Hunter wants nothing more than to please people. He's so affectionate and sweet. We have already taught him to sit and lay down in the 3 days he's been back with us. When he runs, he looks like a gazelle, swift and sleek and lovely. He's great with kids and other dogs. He has not been exposed to cats.

Hunter has been adopted by a great family in Warwick, RI. He is making the trip out east on Saturday, Nov. 19. We are going to miss this lover boy. Have fun Hunter!

Zeke
Zeke is an AKC registered 3 year old male chocolate Labrador Retriever. He was surrendered to us because his owners didn't have the time or energy to train him.
He is a very loving, absolutely gorgeous (pictures coming), chocolate. He has been raised around kids and does well with them and other dogs. It is not known if he can be trusted around cats as he was never exposed to them.

He is neutered, up to date on all routine vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative. He likes to counter-surf and steal toilet paper...basic training issues. Knows basic obedience as he has passed a obedience class. Will not eat until you tell him "okay".

This boy has found his new forever home in Canton, MI, where he has a family that adores him. Have a great time Zeke!

Jax
Meet Jax. She is 15 weeks old.

Unfortunately for Jax, her owners are moving out of Michigan and can't take her with them. So, Jax needs a new home! She is a very sweet girl that is still so much a pup. She is an ConKC registered pup and the registration will be transferred to the new adoptors.

Jax has been adopted by a great family in Commerce, MI. Have a great life Jax! Her new name is Gabby!

Blitzen
Blitzen was an owner surrender. His family in Ohio forgot to spay his mom and it resulted in an "OOPS" litter. Please don't let that happen to any of your pets. We think that he is Chocolate Lab/Golden Retriever Mix.

Anyways, they couldn't find a home for me so they dumped me at a shelter in Ohio. A whole bunch of people got together on a web discussion forum and got me out int he nick of time...as I was supposed to be euthanized on12/19/05.

I'm still a big time puppy around 8-11 weeks old. I am pretty much housebroken and crate trained. I love to play!

Blitzen has been adopted to a great family in Columbia Station, OH. Have fun buddy! His new name is Reilly!

Maizie
Maizie is a 2 year old purebred female yellow lab that had to be given up by her owner because she became really allergic to her. Her owner was broken hearted.

Maizie is now in a great home with a wonderful family in Livonia, MI.

Hope
Hi My name is Hope and I am 8 weeks old. I am a loveable puppy that is looking for the perfect forever home. I like my foster mommie and daddy. They are really nice to me and said that they were going to make sure that I get a wonderful forever home.

Hope is ready for adoption now. I have had my first two sets of shots and have been wormed. Won't you find it in your heart to adopt me and make me your own?

I now live in a great home in Lowell, MI.

Hunter
Hi My name is Hunter and I am 8 weeks old. I am a happy puppy that is looking for the perfect forever home. I like my foster mommie and daddy. They are really nice to me and said that they were going to make sure that I get a wonderful forever home.

Hunter is ready for adoption now. I have had my first two sets of shots and have been wormed. Won't you find it in your heart to adopt me and make me your own?

My new family is in Lincoln Park, MI, I am being spoiled rotten!

Sawyer
Meet the sweetest dog on the face of the earth. This is Sawyer. All he wants from you is to brush and pet him. He's a black lab/flat coated retriever mix and about 5 years old.

Sawyer was found as a stray in Gaylord, MI. A nice woman found him and tgried desperately to find his owners. Alas, no one came forward. So, he was brought down to Mt. Pleasant to live with the good samaritan's grandmother. Unfortunately, this woman had no experience with bigger dogs, and then they discovered that he had epilepsy.

So the good samaritan brought him to Animal Health Associates for care. The vets and vet techs took great care of him and they fell in love with him. His epilepsy has been successfully controlled with phenobarbitol and he can live a normal live as long as he takes his medication, which is super inexpensive ($12 per month).

This boy is so calm, so laid back, and athletic. He's great with kids and other dogs. He has not been exposed to cats. He's neutered, UTD on vaccinations, and we will even pay for the first couple of months of his medication as long as you have a big heart to make sure he has a great forever home.

Sawyer has found his forever home in Troy, MI, with an incredible family! Good luck buddy!

New Orlean's Pups
Hi there! We are some very lucky puppies. We were bred by a careless back yard breeder in the New Orlean's area. Our momma's owner breeds for money and not because she loves our breed. Because of the hurricane, there aren't really many people down here that can adopt cute puppies like us.

Our momma died sometime ago, so we are all alone in the world, and we are only 6.5 weeks old! There was 12 in our litter but 6 died and our momma's owner already gave away one of us! There are 3 of us left, 2 black males and 1 black female. Sadly, our 2 other sisters did not make it out of New Orleans. We are purebred, but do not have papers.

All three of these pups are now in their new forever homes. Miles and Dizzy were adopted together and live in Port Huron, MI and Etta lives in Clarkston, MI. Good luck guys!
